                         NEWSLETTER
                      Winter 2008
Well, here it is, the end of another year.  We hope you all had a great Holiday season.  We sure did.  My New Year’s resolution is to start knitting my Christmas gifts in January.  (stop laughing!)  At least I’m going to try.
Following is our class list for January through April.  We have some new guidelines for our classes.  First off, if you take a class during 2008 you will be invited to our 2009 celebration sale along with our frequent buyers.
One big change that we have to make, we no longer can assist with knitting problems on a drop in basis.  For one-on-one assistance, we would appreciate it if you would call ahead and schedule a time.  There will be a fee for this private class of $10.00 and an additional fee of $3.00 if the yarn was purchased elsewhere.
We will be offering an Open Workshop for a fee of $5.00 a session.  There will be an instructor at these workshops that will be able to assist you with your project of choice.  You do not need to sign up for open workshop ahead of time, but seating is limited.  The times are:
Wednesday 1:00-3:00pm
Saturday 11:00am-1:00pm
There will still be open knitting on Tuesday and Thursday.  This is a time to share and learn from one another.  There is no fee for this forum.  You are still welcome to come and sit and knit anytime.  Have a cup of coffee or tea.  But, this is a time to visit and chit-chat.  Anything more than a simple question, will have to be handled in an open workshop or a private session.
Payment for classes is due at the time of registration.  If you cancel a week or more before the beginning of the class, all monies will be refunded.  Cancellation with less than a week’s notice, you will receive a 50% refund.
Basic Tools are required when taking classes or for open workshops.  Please be prepared with the following:
Small Sharp Scissors
Stitch Markers
Point Protectors
Stitch Holders
Wool Needle
Crochet Hook
Needle Gauge
Pen or Pencil
Note Paper
Tape Measure

Hours
Monday, Wednesday and Friday 10:00am – 6:00 pm
Tuesday and Thursday 11:00am – 7:30 pm, Saturday 11:00am – 4:00pm
Inclement Weather   We live in a country sub.  Our roads are not attended to quickly.   We decided that if we get more than six inches of snow or freezing rain, we will not be opening that day.  We if we can get in later in the day we will try.  Please call later in the day if it seems that it has cleared up and we made it in.

Who We Are...what we are all about

The Knitting Den was started in 2005 by us, Bonnie Crossley and Susan Sanocki, two ladies with a passion for knitting. For years we traversed the area in search of good knitting materials, never able to find exactly what we needed when we needed it. So we went to work and started our own shop in the historic town of South Lyon in the heart of Southeastern Michigan. Our warm and cozy shop is located in a Victorian style home on Lafayette street, the main street of historic South Lyon.

Although The Knitting Den may seem out of the way, we guarantee it's worth the trek for anyone who loves knitting. The area is easily accessible from highway 96 and is centrally located between Ann Arbor and Detroit. See our directions page for detailed directions. It's closer than you think and we promise it will be worth the drive.

Since starting the shop, we've found much enthusiasm in the surrounding communities for knitting supplies and for advice and help in the fundamentals of knitting and crocheting. In addition to friendly advice for knitters of any level, we offer several different classes every month to help people reach their personal goals. See Our Classes page for information, class times and cost.

Most of all we hope you enjoy our shop. Suggestions and advice are always welcome in our warm and friendly environment.

Happy Knitting,
Bonnie and Susan
